Experience the best trail and fell running the Yorkshire Dales has to offer
With literally thousands of km's of paths and tracks as well as extensive areas of beautiful and often remote limestone hills, valleys and moorland, the Yorkshire Dales is a haven for trail and fell runners. Its a brilliant way to cover the distance and really ‘get to grips’ with and explore an area – its variety of scenery, history, quaint communities, and of course ‘tea-shops’ for the essential after-run cream teas! :-)
Mike, Steph and Paul, as well as many of our instructors, are all passionate trail and fell runners, with particular interests for getting 'off the beaten track' into new places as well as long-distance running and ultra-marathons. Mike recently completed the 80mile Dales Way in 20hrs, and both Steph and Mike traversed the Dales from south to north during their Spine Challenger race back in 2018.
The Three Peaks region comprising Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-ghent are particularly popular (and rightly so!) for trail and fell running, but the Yorkshire Dales is HUGE, and it isn't difficult to get off the beaten track and into quieter, lesser visited hills and valleys, where there are stunning views, varied scenery and great running to be enjoyed. Why not join us on a run into the beautiful Swaledale, Wharfedale or Dentdale, or onto the lesser visitied summits of Great Knoutberry, Dodd Fell, or Great Shunner Fell. You might want a proper fell route off the likes of Great Coum or Crag Hill, or fancy a unique route, away from the crowds off Whernside down the ridge to Ingleton. We've got literally hundreds of suggestions built upon our own runs and we cannot wait to share them with you!
Yorkshire Dales Guides can offer single or multi-day packages, with highly experienced local guides with particular passions for running in the Yorkshire Dales. Whether its a half-day run somewhere near where you're staying, or a full-day in a new valley or linking some new hills, or a multi-day adventure traversing the Dales on the Dales Way, Pennine Way, or even a bespoke route linking places of interest, then we can definitely organise this for you!!
